Israeli Literary Mag Republishes Story from QUIET AMERICANS

July 5, 2012

We’re delighted to see “Lebensraum,” one of the wonderful historical stories in Erika Dreifus’s collection, Quiet Americans, featured in the latest issue of The Ilanot Review. This journal bills itself as “an Israeli journal of creative writing in English,” and its latest issue is organized around the theme “Translation/Transformation.”

Lebensraum” was inspired by the World War II U.S. military service of Erika’s paternal grandfather, a German Jew who immigrated to New York in the late 1930s. Set in 1944, the story takes place in the American Midwest; it was originally published in Southern Indiana Review and picked up for republication in Becoming Fire, a spiritual-writing anthology.

You can read “Lebensraum” in its entirety on The Ilanot Review‘s website. And if you haven’t yet ordered your copy of Quiet Americans, there are many options available to you!
